Google Invests in Satellite Internet Service - $60M

One way to bring people to the cloud is to invest in two items, Internet connectivity and the browser. Google now has one in place and plans to enable the other through an investment into 03B Networks.

"Start-up Seeks to Link Three Billion to Net – Google and Others Invest $60 Million in Satellite Plan O3B Networks Ltd. Greg Wyler – founder. Launch of 16 satellites in low orbit to parts of Africa, South America, and the middle east. Project is expected to cost $650 million and initial investments of $60 will come from Google, HSBC, Allen and Company, Liberty Global Inc. Liberty’s, backed by John Malone and Mark Fries, Denver office will develop and manage the project."
